Labour weekend it all went down between the two Pa, Rapaki and Tuahiwi.

The day started with Tuahiwi starting the day with Mihi whakatau and karakia further blessing our kaupapa with perfect weather and turnout of people.

We had the women kick it off with Netball showing their skills of swiftness, aggressiveness and team work which left Tuahiwi our 2016 Winners and rapaki who showed heart in fighting for the points in the last seconds.

Our rangatahi and tamariki had their time to shine with Ki O Rahi and collected prizes for their awesome efforts in participating in one of the well known traditional Maori games.

Debz Frybread Stall and of course our local aunties and uncles showcasing their skills from manicures, petticures and cant forget the whitebait patties that filled the stomachs of over 300 hundred people that turned up from as far as Australia to cheer on these two pa as they represented their Marae with mana.

The Mens league was the main event that brought the intensity high with beautiful grass roots playing style, crunching tackles, agility levels tested and the stamina of the body drained to its last.

No one left the field the same man they walked on, every man playing hard to represent their pa leaving Tuahiwi the winners for 2016.

The biggest winners for the day was whanaungatanga, kotahitanga, maoritanga and of course the hunger to carry on the legacy of Pa Games.

This event is definitley one you dont want to miss in 2017.
